Common questions about the program, who qualifies, and how it works

Updated over 10 months ago

The California Emergency Relief Program entitles state residents living in areas affected by natural disasters and other qualifying states of emergency to certain forms of relief related to essential services.

Does Helium Mobile offer support under the California Emergency Relief Program?

Helium Mobile subscribers in qualifying areas affected by disasters or other emergencies are eligible for deferred payment on their plan without penalty or service interruption.

How do I know if I qualify for a deferred payment under the program?

We email subscribers with service addresses in qualifying zip codes. Please ensure you keep your service address up-to-date.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services also keeps an up-to-date list of open state of emergency proclamations.

How do I file a request for a deferred payment?

You can email us directly at [email protected] with the subject line “California Emergency Relief Program” or start a support chat with the same query.

How long can I defer?

You can defer payment for up to one year from the date of the emergency proclamation. Please reference the Governor’s Office list of state of emergency proclamations to track your start date.

If you would like to defer one month at a time, please specify with the support agent when you reach out with your deferral request. Note the months must be sequential in order to continue deferment.

What happens when the deferment period ends?

Once the deferment period is concluded you will receive a bill for each month you have deferred.

How do I know how much I owe?

You can reference the invoices in your account or contact our support team directly.

How do I pay my deferred balance?

You can pay your balance by credit card through the invoices sent to you.

What happens if I cancel my account while it's deferred?

If you do happen to cancel your account during deferment, the total sum of all deferred months will be collected at the time of cancellation
