Activating your SIM

Enjoy voice and data in one simple Helium Mobile SIM!

To begin setting up your SIM, download the Helium Mobile app.

*While we always recommend running the latest OS on your device, the oldest compatible versions for the app are Android 11 and iOS 14.

Helium Mobile eSIM

  1. Download your Wi-Fi Certificate

    1. To use Helium Mobile, you’ll need to install a Wi-Fi certificate.

    2. Tap ‘Allow’ when you see the Wi-Fi certificate popup.

  2. Set up your phone number. You can now choose to either transfer your phone number from a previous carrier or get a brand new number from us.

    1. Check eligibility of the phone number transfer

    2. To keep your current phone number and transfer it over, select “I’d like to bring my number”.

      1. If you selected to transfer your previous phone number, you’ll be asked the following:

        1. Check the transfer eligibility of your phone number.

        2. Complete the port-in process. You must complete this process before activating your eSIM.

    3. Click here for detailed instructions on how to transfer your phone number to Helium Mobile.

    4. To receive a new phone number, select “I’d like a new number”.

  3. Activate your eSIM. Once you’ve transferred your phone number or received a new one, you’re ready to activate your eSIM. Continue through or navigate back to the “Set-up” tab to continue the process. The eSIM will now generate.

  4. Install your eSIM. Once generated, you can now install your eSIM to your device.Please take the time to read and acknowledge our “Important Note”. Please do not delete your eSIM from your device. Once deleted, you will not be able to reactivate it.

    1. Android

      1. Install with a QR Code.

        1. Tap “Have a second device handy? Use a QR code instead”

        2. Login to your Helium Mobile account on a secondary device and scan the QR code with your primary device (the device you’d like to install the Helium Mobile eSIM should be the same device you are using to scan).

        3. After scanning, follow the instructions on your device.

      2. Manually enter details instead. Copy the single use activation code shown on your screen. It should look like this:

        1. On a Samsung device, navigate to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > + Add eSIM > “Other ways to connect to mobile network” and paste the code.

        2. On a Google Pixel, navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > “Download a SIM instead?” > “Next” and paste the code.

    2. iOS

      1. Install with a QR code.

        1. Tap “Have a second device handy? Use a QR code instead”

        2. Login to your Helium Mobile account on a secondary device and scan the QR code with your primary device (the device you’d like to install the Helium Mobile eSIM should be the same device you are using to scan).

        3. After scanning, follow the instructions on your device.

      2. Manually enter details instead.

        1. On your device, navigate to “Add eSIM” > “Use QR Code” > “Enter Details Manually”

        2. On the Helium Mobile app, copy the “Single Use Activation Code” and paste in the appropriate box in your device “Settings”.

        3. Next, on the Helium Mobile app, copy the “SM-DP+ Address” and paste it in the appropriate box in your device “Settings”.

  5. eSIM setup complete! Your Helium Mobile eSIM should now be successfully activated and installed on your device. View your phone number and plan details by navigating to the “Plans” tab on the app or to https://my.hellohelium.com/account.

Helium Mobile SIM Card

  1. Download your Wi-Fi Certificate.

    1. To use Helium Mobile, you’ll need to install a Wi-Fi certificate.

    2. Tap ‘Allow’ when you see the Wi-Fi certificate popup.

  2. Activate your SIM Card.

    1. Locate the 14-16 digit “SIM Card number” beneath the barcode on the back of your SIM Card.

    2. You may choose to scan the barcode autofil the number or manually type it in.

    3. Tap “Continue” to initiate SIM activation.

  3. Once successfully activated, you will receive a success message. Tap “Continue”

  4. Set up your phone number. You can now choose to either transfer your phone number from a previous carrier or get a brand new number from us.

    1. To keep your current phone number and transfer it over, select “I’d like to bring my number”.

      1. If you selected to transfer your previous phone number, you’ll be asked the following:

        1. Check the transfer eligibility of your phone number.

        2. Complete the port-in process. You must complete this process before activating your eSIM.

    2. To receive a new phone number, select “I’d like a new number”.

    3. Click here for detailed instructions on how to transfer your phone number to Helium Mobile.

  5. Install your SIM Card. Once you’ve transferred your phone number or received a new one, you’re ready to install your SIM card. Continue through or navigate back to the “Set-up” tab to continue the process.

    1. Locate the SIM Card tray on your device. Carefully open the tray.

    2. Pop out the correct size SIM card from your card.

    3. Insert the SIM card into the device and close the tray.

  6. SIM setup complete! Your Helium Mobile SIM should now be successfully activated and installed on your device. View your phone number and plan details by navigating to the “Plans” tab on the app or to https://my.hellohelium.com/account.
