We offer several additional services that you can add on to your plan at any time. These can be found in the Add-Ons section of the app (we always suggest being on the latest version available in the app store). To purchase an Add-On:

  1. Log in to the Helium Mobile App (app version 3.15.0 or later)

  2. Go to the “Add-On’s” tab

  3. Find and tap the Add-On of you're interested in

  4. Select any relevant options, complete the purchase, and enjoy!

Important - Re-purchasing an Add-On for additional service will replace the existing Add-On. It is crucial that you do not purchase more data or minutes until you are out or nearly out. Your newly purchased service will not be summed with your existing data/minutes. This effects Data Boosts, International Calling, and International Roaming.

How can I purchase extra high speed data?

Login on the Helium Mobile app and locate the pink “Data Boost” icon. Select how many GB of high speed data you’d like to purchase, confirm your payment information, and purchase. Your data will be available to use immediately.

I'm on an Unlimited plan, why do I need to purchase more?

If you're on a legacy $5 or $20 Unlimited plan, or the new Infinity plan, you do have unlimited data! However, data is throttled to slower speeds each billing cycle. If you’re a high data user who prefers higher speed data, then Data Boost is for you.

Does my purchased data roll over to my next billing period? Does it expire?

All high speed data purchased through Data Boost will expire on your next billing date or when used in full. Before purchasing Data Boost, it's best to check that you’re not too far away from your next billing renewal, and consider how much you're most likely to go through before your next renewal.

I didn’t use all my data. Can I get a refund?

All Data Boost purchased are final and cannot be refunded. Unused data will not be refunded or prorated.

I am in a group, can I get a Data Boost?

Yes! Your group admin can select which group member they’d like to purchase Data Boost for. The Group Admin can navigate to their “Group Plans” icon in the Helium Mobile app, select a member, and purchase on their behalf.

Can I choose the speed of my Data Boost?

No, all data purchased through Data Boost will be the same speed as your un-throttled data.

Where can I view my data usage?

You can view your monthly data usage in the Helium Mobile app in the “Usage” section. You can also get a quick snapshot of your most recent usage before you purchase “Data Boost”.

Can I pay for a Data Boost using crypto?

No, at this time the Data Boost can only paid for with a credit card.

Does Boosted Data work internationally?

No, the data included in a Data Boost is only for use in the U.S. If you do need data for international travel, please check out the International Roaming add-on.

Important - Purchased Helium Mobile data will replace your current positive data balance. It is crucial that you do not purchase more International Roaming data until you are out or nearly out. Your newly purchased data will not be summed with your existing data and you will lose your existing extra data.

International Calling (all plans)

Need to stay connected with friends or family outside of the US? Adding international calling to your plan is quick and easy and only $10/hour. Choose the number of hours that fits your needs, whether it’s just a quick chat or long catch-ups. Just tap,

purchase and start calling!


Complete your purchase and your international calling hours will be added instantly. You’ll have them for 30 days or until all your minutes are used — whichever comes first.

A Few Things to Know

  • If you have international roaming turned on and you make a call from within the US, your international calling minutes will take override while they’re active. Your international roaming data and texts will be unaffected.

  • No refunds or prorations are offered for unused minutes or expired add-ons.

  • Once your 30 days are up (or your minutes run out), you can always repurchase to keep calling internationally.

International Calling FAQ

When can I start using international calling after I buy it?

Right away! It’s added instantly to your account.

Can I stack or combine multiple purchases?

We do not currently support stacking. Each new purchase replaces your current international calling balance.

What if I don’t use all my minutes in 30 days?

Unused minutes expire after 30 days and don’t roll over.

I have international roaming enabled... what happens?

Your international calling minutes will override roaming while they’re both active. We recommend purchasing one at time. (Remember, International Roaming is only needed when you're outside of the US!)

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Sorry, international calling purchases are non-refundable and not prorated.

How do I check how many minutes I have left?

You can see your remaining balance anytime under Add-On’s > International Calling in your account.

What's difference between International Roaming and International Calling?

International Calling allows you to make calls from the United States to your friends and family who are not in the United States.

International Roaming allows you to make calls, send texts, and use data when you are not in the United States. You can call you friends at home and abroad when you have International Roaming enabled, so you'll never need to purchase both at the same time!

Can I purchase International Calling in a group?

Yes! A Group Admin of any group can purchase International Calling on the behalf of any Group Member. In app version 3.14.0 and above, Group Admin's can open the "Group Plans" icon in their Helium Mobile app, select a group member, and tap "Purchase" under "International Calling". The Group member will have 30 days to use the purchased data.

What countries can I make calls to with International Calling?

Helium Mobile supports calls to over 200 countries! Check out the full list here.

International Roaming (all plans)

Planning a trip? We’ve got you covered. Add International Roaming talk, text, and data to your plan! International Roaming can be purchased on a per gigabyte (GB) basis. Each GB of data is $15.00 and includes 100 text messages and 60 minutes of calling.

International Roaming FAQ

How much does International Roaming cost?

International Roaming data can be purchased on a per gigabyte (GB) basis. Each gigabyte of International roaming data costs $15.00.

What is included in my $15.00 of International Roaming?

Per $15.00, you will receive 1 gigabyte (GB) of International Roaming data, 60 minutes of calling and 100 text messages to use abroad.

Does my International Roaming data expire?

Yes. International Roaming data expires 30 days from your date of purchase or when you've run out of data.

Can I purchase more data?

Yes. You can purchase more data from the Helium Mobile app at any time. However, it is important to note that all purchased data will replace any currently active International Roaming data. Therefore, it is crucial that you do not purchase more data until you have run out or are about to run out.

If I purchase more data, does it add to the data I have left?

No. If you purchase more data you will have existing International Roaming data, it will be replaced and you will lose your existing International Roaming Data. For example, if you have a balance of 1GB of International Roaming data remaining, and you purchase 2 more GB of data, you will have 2 GB of International Roaming data total.

In what countries can I use International Roaming?

You can view the list of countries that are eligible to use International Roaming here.

Where do I view my International Roaming usage?

You can view your usage in the “International Roaming” tab under “Add-ons”, as well as on your “Plans” page in the Helium Mobile app. Roaming data can be delayed, if you have usage and you do not see it, please wait or check your device for real-time usage.

You will also receive notifications from the Helium Mobile App as data depletes. Ensure to enable notifications in your device settings so you do not miss any important updates.

I didn’t use all of my data and it expired. Can I get a refund on unused data?

Unused data, texts, or call minutes will not be carried forward or refunded after 30 day expiration. For more information, please review the International Services Terms and Conditions.

How much data do I need?

Data usage can different from person to person, but average domestic usage tends to hover around 1GB for every 2 days.

Based on internal testing, international usage tends to be lower than domestic and 1GB can be sufficient for as long as a week's worth of travel. We suggest starting with 1GB and adding more if you run out.

What happens if I don't use all of my data?

You have 30 days to use the International Roaming data that you've purchased. If you take 2 trips within a 30 day period, any data you have remaining from your first trip will still be available.

Do I need to purchase International Roaming before my trip?

You can purchase International Roaming at any time - before or during your travels. Please note that you have 30 days from the date of purchase to use your data, text, and minutes. If you decide to purchase data during your trip, you will need Wi-Fi to do so.

Will account credits be used towards international roaming charges?

No. At this time, account credits are applied only to monthly plan charges. Any add-ons will be billed to the card on file.

I'm in a group plan, can I add international roaming?

Run out of minutes or texts on your Zero plan? You can add this recurring add-on to your plan for $5/month!

Unlimited Talk & Text FAQ

Do I need to add the Unlimited Talk & Text every month?

No, this is a recurring Add-On, so you only need to add it once and it will renew every month on your renewal date automatically!

If I add Unlimited Talk & Text partway through the month, is it prorated?

Yes, the first month is prorated based on the number of days left in your billing cycle.

I no longer need the extra minutes/text, how can I cancel the Add-On?

The Add-On can be canceled from the Ad-On section by tapping on the Unlimited Talk & Text option and following the on-screen prompts to remove the Add-On. Cancellations are not prorated, so it will be removed from your account at the end of the billing cycle.

I Canceled the Add-On, can I get a refund?

The Unlimited Talk & Text Add-On is non refundable. If you cancel the recurring Add-On, you will still get the unlimited minutes/texts until the end of the billing cycle.

Why is this only for the Zero plan?

Air and Infinity plans already have unlimited minutes and texts, so it's not necessary for them!

What happens if I upgrade from Zero to one of the other plans?

If you need more data and choose to upgrade to Air or Infinity, the add-on will be removed when the upgrade completes. Note that there are no prorated refund.

Is MMS also unlimited?

Since MMS counts towards both text and data, unlimited MMS is available only up to your data threshold.
