Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication
Updated over 8 months ago

You can set-up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on the Helium Mobile app in "Settings" or on the your account on the web on the "Me" page. For your security, MFA is required for all Helium Mobile subscribers.

How to enable Multi-Factor Authentication:

  1. Verify Email and Password: Re-enter your Helium Mobile account email and it's associated password.

  2. Download an Authentication App: You'll need to download an authentication app onto your device. An authentication app is a secure app that generates unique codes to confirm it's really you trying to access your account.

Not sure which authenticator to pick? Here are a few we like:

  3. Add Helium Mobile to Your Authentication App: Once you've downloaded the authentication app, you'll need to add Helium Mobile to it. Scan the QR code provided or manually enter the displayed setup key. This is the way that your authentication app is able to recognize your Helium Mobile account.

Make sure you back up your recovery codes for your chosen MFA app by storing them on a separate device and/or keeping written copies somewhere safe. This will help you regain access to your account if you lose your device. Please make sure to review the recovery recommendations for the app you choose.

  4. Get the 6-Digit Code: After you've added Helium Mobile to your authentication app, it will start generating 6-digit codes every few seconds. These codes are unique to your account and change frequently. To finalize the setup, you'll need to provide one of these 6-digit codes.

  5. Finalize Setup: When prompted during the setup process, enter the 6-digit code from your authentication app into the appropriate field. This lets Helium Mobile know that your authentication app is working correctly and that you're ready to use MFA.

And that's it! Once you've completed these steps, your account will be protected with Multi-Factor Authentication, making it much more secure. When you log in, make sure to have your authentication app handy to enter your code!
