Upcoming Zero Plan Changes

Changes to the Helium Mobile Zero Plan coming January 27, 2026

Updated today

Starting January 27, 2026, we will be making some changes related to how taxes and fees are collected and how your data is offered on the Helium Mobile Zero Plan.

What's changing?

Taxes and Fees

Taxes and fees will start to appear on your bill starting January 27, 2026. You will need to make sure you have a payment method on file to cover these charges.

Your Data

Your plan will still have 3GB of data available to you each month, but starting January 27, 2GB of that data will be available exclusively on the Helium Network and 1GB will be available through our partner nationwide network. You still get 300 texts and 100 minutes of calling each month.

Will my plan price be different?

Your Zero plan is still $0/month, but you will start to see charges for taxes and fees on your bill. These costs are passed through to the government or our merchant processors, Helium Mobile does not make money from these fees.

Why do I need to add a payment method?

Your payment method will be charged monthly on your billing date moving forward to cover taxes and fees. If no payment method is added, your account risks suspension and cancellation.

You can find your billing date in your account on the Helium Mobile App by tapping the “You” button on the top left side of your home screen, and then toggling to the “Billing” section. You can also enter card information here.

You can learn more about our cancellation policy in our Plan Terms and Conditions.

How do I add a card to my account?

You can add a card by clicking the “You” button on the top left side of your home screen, and then toggling to the “Billing” section.

Do I still get 3GB of data?

Yes, your data allocation will remain the same. 1GB of that data will be available through our nationwide partner network, and the other 2GBs will be available through the Helium Network.

How do I know when I’m on the Helium Network?

Your phone will automatically connect to a Helium Hotspot when you are within range. You can find Helium Hotspots near you at https://world.helium.com/en/network/mobile

What happens if I run out of data?

If you run low on data, you can purchase data boost for additional data directly in your Helium Mobile App. You can also upgrade to Air or Infinity to get more monthly data.

How do I know how much data I’ve used?

You can monitor your data usage in your Helium Mobile App. We also send text notifications when your data is running low.

This change is not going to work for me. Can I cancel my plan?

If you do not wish to continue as a Helium Mobile subscriber due to these changes, or for any other reason, you can cancel your plan from your account on the Helium Mobile App without penalty. Your account will cancel at the end of your current billing cycle.

What notice was sent out regarding these changes?

On Monday, January 12, 2026, all active subscribers on the Zero Plan were sent the following email:

The following message is about changes to your Helium Mobile Zero Plan.

Your phone plan is still free. Taxes & fees apply.

When the Zero Plan launched, Helium Mobile covered required taxes and fees to make getting started easy. As the service grows, we’re making a small adjustment so we can keep offering the Zero Plan as an affordable phone service long-term.

Starting January 27, 2026, taxes and fees required for phone service will apply to your Zero Plan. These charges depend on your service address and go to third parties such as municipal and state governments, not Helium Mobile.

Review or add a payment method to your account

Starting your first billing cycle renewal on or after January 27, 2026, applicable taxes and fees will be charged to the payment method currently on file for your account. A payment method is only used to cover required taxes and fees. You can still cancel your plan any time.

You can check your renewal date within the Helium Mobile App, clicking the top-left “home” icon, and tapping “Billing”.

If you do not have a valid payment method on file, you will be required to add or update your payment information to continue using the Zero Plan after January 27, 2026. Failure to take action will result in account suspension and ultimately cancellation.

Changes to how your data works

Starting January 27, 2026, while you still receive 3GB of free data per month through the Zero Plan, 1GB will be delivered through our nationwide partner network. The remaining 2GB of data will be accessible through the Helium Network. You can see Helium Network coverage on Helium World.(https://world.helium.com/en/network/mobile).

Your options

Helium Mobile exists to make phone service accessible for everyone, whether you need a free plan, a little data, or unlimited everything. As we grow, these updates help us keep that promise.

If you do not wish to continue service under these updated terms, you may cancel your Zero Plan at any time before January 27, 2026, with no penalty.

You can review or update your payment information by logging into your account in the Helium Mobile App.
