Understanding Your Monthly Usage

Understanding how your voice minutes, texts, and data are counted can help you stay within your plan's monthly limits. Here's a breakdown of how everything is tracked.

Voice Minutes

Does Wi-Fi Calling count toward my minutes?

Yes. Any call placed with Wi-Fi Calling enabled (shown as "Wi-Fi Calling" as your carrier name) counts toward your monthly voice minutes, just like a regular call.

Do inbound calls and voicemails count toward my minutes?

Yes, both inbound and outbound calls count. A voicemail also counts as a connected call, so leaving or receiving one uses minutes. Listening to a voicemail afterward doesn't use any additional minutes.

Are minutes rounded up, or calculated by the second?

Minutes are rounded up to the nearest minute. For example, a call lasting 1 minute and 4 seconds counts as 2 minutes used.

Text Messages

Does sending and receiving texts both count toward my limit?

Yes. If your plan has a text limit, both sending and receiving a text counts toward it.

What does an MMS count as?

MMS messages count toward both your text (SMS) and data limits.

Do RCS messages count toward my texts?

No. RCS (Rich Communication Services) messages only count as data usage, not toward your text limit.

Data Usage

Is tethering data deducted from my monthly data?

Yes, but each plan sets aside a specific portion of your monthly data for tethering. For example, on the Air plan (10GB total), 5GB is available for tethering. If you use all 5GB of tethered data, you'd still have 5GB of regular data remaining before reaching your limit.

Does using a Helium Mobile Hotspot count toward my data?

Yes. Connecting to a Helium Mobile Hotspot uses data from your plan.

For example, on the Infinity plan (36GB of high-speed data), using 10GB through a Helium Mobile Hotspot would leave you with 26GB of high-speed cellular data before slowdowns may occur.
